Something this way comes.
A New Film, and Project Italia.
Hello :)
In August, I joined five very good friends to cycle the Westfjords Way, one of the most remote cycle routes in Europe. We’ve been busy beavering away since, and next Thursday (February 26), plan to launch two films:
A 40-minute documentary of the trip, narrated by me, capturing the full journey, the twists and turns, the hot springs and the sore knees.
A 3-minute hero film – A cinematic love letter to the Westfjords, narrated by Kaz Firpo and Finn Harries, who joined me on the trip.
The film is a step-up from the previous films I’ve made through Japan and the UK. It helped that we had two professional cinematographers in the group (Jeremy Snell and Minka Farthing-Kohl), who managed to persuade Leica to lend us some cameras and lenses for the trip. But also Iceland, and particularly the Westfjords, is a stunning place to cycle and film. I’ve never been anywhere quite like it.
I’m very excited to share the full thing next week, but for now here’s the trailer of my film:
Project Italia
In other news, I am planning my next big cycle: Italy. We’ll be departing in April, covering 2,000km in 18 days of cycling.
Here’s the outline of the route: We start in Catania on Sicily, head northeast to Matera, then to Rome, Siena, Florence, Bologna, Trento, Bolzano and then finish in Innsbruck, Austria. There’s an interactive map, here.
If you know of any favourite places to stay along the way, places to visit, must-do experiences, bits of trivia, I’d love to hear from you! I don’t know Italy all that well, and am keen to pack this trip with as much history, culture, good food and Gladiator reenactments as I can, so all recommendations received with gratitude. Thank you.
Hope you’re keeping well,
Oscar

Remember this and I think you're all set:
Can we have three bowls of pasta and a bottle of red wine to go please –> Possiamo avere tutti e tre ciotole di pasta e una bottiglia di vino rosso da asporto, per favore?
Found the roads in Italy very bad, bad drivers too, terrible road layouts and traffic flow. Very hilly too. Please be careful!
